Keith's second lesson

I have been asked to post some of the information I have learned from the presentations made by the other students in my class. On the 14th Jan of this year we were asked to research different Operating Systems and evaluate how useful they would be in a school environment. Our group looked at Linux, the other 2 groups researched Windows and Mac OS.

Some interesting facts about Linux are:
  • It was created by Linus Torvalds at the University of Helsinki in Finland.
  • He had an interest in Minix, a small UNIX system and wanted to create a superior system to it.
  • Linux is an open source software and it’s free!! Open source means that it comes with it’s code, therefore the user can change aspects of it to suit their needs.
  • Linux is available in several formats and many languages. Each version has it’s own set of features that make it useful for that purpose.

Keith's first lesson

Today we continued to work on our Computer Systems website for Unit 21 - " Website production & management". I concentrated on lining the links up with the navigation bar image, this took most of the lesson as even after Keith had tried it still wouldn't line up correctly. I have decided to research CSS on the internet and see if I can find a solution to the problem.

S'all for now
